PRIMARY FILTRATION
AquaPrime® Cloth Media Filter
With more than 20 years of experience in wastewater and stormwater application processes, Aqua-Aerobic Systems cloth media filter has demonstrated across more than 1500 installations, the ability to accommodate the requirement for a small footprint primary filtration solution for large hydraulic throughput and high solids loading capacity system, whilst providing exceptional effluent quality.
The new AquaPrime® filtration system utilises three zones of solids removal with OptiFiber® pile cloth media in a disk configuration. This process is designed to effectively filter high solids waste streams in primary filtration, whilst removing the requirement for chemicals. This system has been designed to process a wide range of flows within a drastically reduced footprint than that of conventional clarifiers. AquaPrime is ideal for primary wastewater treatment applications due to its continued removal efficiency success and high-quality effluent, despite varying influent conditions.

TERTIARY FILTRATION
Tertiary filtration is the final cleaning process, conducted to improve the wastewater quality prior to being recycled, reused or discharged to the environment. Tertiary filtration removes residual inorganic compounds such as phosphate and nitrogen. Viruses and parasites are also removed in this stage of treatment.
OptiFiber® cloth filtration media has been specifically engineered for application in water and wastewater. It is designed enable maximum removal of solids across a wide range of particle sizes. Unlike microscreen media, the cloth media’s thick pile construction allows storage of filtered solids, extending the time between back-washes. Thorough cleaning of the media if facilitated by the unique design of the cloth fibre backing support structure to optimum performance.
New OptiFiber PES-14 Microfibre Cloth
The most recent development in pile cloth media is OptiFiber PES-14 all-microfibre cloth. It removes suspended solids, turbidity and fine particles up to 50% better than other filters or microscreens. Typical effluent quality is < 1.0 NTU and < 3.0 mg/L TSS, and has proven to reduce phosphorus to 0.1 mg/L or less.

Aqua-Aerobic Automatic Cloth Media Filters
AQUADISK® FILTER
In 1993, Aqua-Aerobic Systems was the first to introduce a cloth media filter disk configuration to the market, as an alternative to traditional granular media filtration technologies. The long-standing history of exceptional durability and operating experience continues to make the AquaDisk® the tertiary filter of choice.
AQUA MINIDISK® FILTER
Aqua-Aerobic Systems is highly reputable for its complete line of cloth media filtration systems throughout the wastewater treatment industry, including the original AquaDisk® and AquaDiamond® filters. The tradition continues with the Aqua MiniDisk® filter featuring OptiFiber® pile cloth media. This filter is designed to provide economical treatment of smaller flows with the added advantage of retrofitting existing traveling bridge sand filters.
AQUA MEGADISK® FILTER
The Aqua MegaDisk® tertiary filter is an evolution of the original AquaDisk®, expanding on the reliability and exceptional performance, on a larger scale. The Aqua MegaDisk offers larger diameter disks and fewer mechanical components than the AquaDisk filter. This design results in the smallest footprint available for comparative hydraulic capacity, operating in 80% less space than sand filters.
Aqua MegaDisk Operation
Filtration Mode
- Inlet wastewater enters the filter by gravity via the Influent Channel
- Stationary Cloth Media Disks are completely submerged
- Wastewater flows through the Cloth Media Disks as solids are retained and stored within the depth of the pile cloth
- Gravity conveys the filtrate, collected in the hollow centre tube, to the Effluent Channel
- Heavier solids settle to the tank bottom
Backwash Mode
- Cloth Media Disks are automatically backwashed clean
- Disks rotate slowly for cleaning as filtration continues uninterrupted
- Backwash Shoes contact the cloth media directly and solids are removed by vacuum pressure from the Backwash/Solids Pump
- Backwash water is redirected to the headworks
Solids Wasting Mode
- Backwash/Solids Pump provides suction to the Solids Collection Manifold for wasting of settled solids
Each disk is approximately 10′ in diameter, the largest cloth disk available
Eight (8) lightweight, removable segments for ease of maintenance
Up to 24 disks in a single filter, capable of treating 91 MLD
Utilizes exclusive OptiFiber cloth filtration media
Fully automatic PLC control system
Low hydraulic profile
Available in painted steel, stainless steel or concrete tanks
Fewer filters required, resulting in a smaller footprint and lower capital and operating costs
Low energy consumption since disks are stationary, except when backwashing
Fewer pumps and valves needed means lower maintenance costs
Higher solids and hydraulic loading rates
