Cut your water usage in half? It’s possible with a greywater recycling system. Greywater makes up about 30 to 50 per cent of wastewater discharged into our sewers. Instead of losing it, Aquacell’s greywater systems help you re-use it.
Greywater can come from our showers, baths, basins and washing machines. It may be contaminated with a range of soluble and insoluble (particulate) substances like soaps, detergents, skin, saliva, dirt and lint. Each type of contaminant must be treated appropriately, whether it is detergent/surfactant, organic, microbial or particulate. And that’s where the Aquacell G Series comes in. Designed with a multi-barrier approach, it combines a range of purifying processes to remove all those nasty contaminants and make your greywater ready to use again.
The Aquacell G Series
The Aquacell G Series provides a simple modular solution for on-site greywater recycling. The system features a controlled, robust and comprehensive treatment process that combines physical, microbiological and oxidative treatments in one efficient package.

Our greywater recycling in detail
Each of the following steps are illustrated in the graphic above.
Water collection – Water flows from throughout the property to a collection point where it is pumped into the Aquacell system. This is where the treatment process starts.
Aerobic screening – This odour free process is unique to Aquacell. It efficiently reduces insoluble material to a negligible residue. This residue is usually discharged into the sewer and the remaining greywater flows on for further treatment.
Biological treatment – Air is diffused into the greywater to make ideal conditions for bacteria to consume impurities in the water. A sustainable biomass concentration is maintained and metabolises all incoming waste, resulting in negligible sludge. Of the incoming water, 99.9 per cent is re-used.
Ultrafiltration – Ultrafiltration happens through a special membrane of microscopic pores that stop particles, bacteria and viruses from passing through. The membranes are cleaned by air scouring to make sure no wastewater is produced.
Ultraviolet disinfection – As a precaution, ultraviolet lamps are included in all Aquacell greywater systems to up the protection against pathogens.
Chlorination – A chlorine residual is added to help protect the water while in storage and the reticulation system. This is the only time any chemicals are used in the treatment process.
Treated water storage – The result is safe water, kept in storage for immediate use across any non-potable water needs, including surface irrigation, toilet flushing and washing machines.
The Aquacell G Series offers high recovery rates with no backwashing, negligible residue and low energy usage. These features provide maximum credits for Green Star or ESD projects – the ideal option for green builders keen to reduce overheads, re-use water and minimise their carbon footprint.
We’ve got all the bases covered. Every Aquacell greywater system comes with a built-in control, which continuously reacts to the ever-changing quality of effluent without an on-site operator. Plus, our expert Aquacell engineers remotely monitor all systems, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
Aquacell’s localised greywater treatment and recycling solutions have helped people re-use water all across Australia. That means we’ve got the experience and knowledge to navigate complex regulatory frameworks and make sure you get the best possible recycling outcomes. Data acquisition and compliance reporting is built into the Aquacell system from the ground up. All our systems are backed by expert knowledge, service and maintenance support. It’s all part of our ongoing guarantee to ensure your peace of mind.
